Blow off silencer (Vent Silencer)

blow off silencerIn cases of blow off silencers regarding highly compressed vapour or gas in an open air set, kinetic energy is formed with high amplitude pressure fluctuations. The result of this is a very high sound pressure level that needs to be reduced. It is this type of emission that can effectively be limited with a blow off silencer, vent silencer, capable of being designed and manufactured by E.I. Williams.

Effective noise reductions from our blow off silencers are due to throttle systems being directly behind a silencer’s inlet duct with an absorption system that consists of various splitters. A throttle system can be placed within the radial multi-stage expansion unit. Both, the numbers and sizes of these throttle sections can depend on levels of an inlet pressure and acoustical requirement.

These high inlet pressures are reduced to atmospheric pressure. Depending on sizes of these splitters, a reduction of 70 dB sound pressure levels could be attained.

Both Canadian (National) and International standards can be applied to the design of a blow off silencer along with their corresponding pressure bearing sections. The choice of materials used involving the construction of the blow off silencer depends on temperatures and the pressures it will be subjected to.
